Brasserie 19

Paris is widely regarded as the world capital of fine brasseries. Known for their casual yet elegant atmospheres, Parisian brasseries are famous for serving classic French dishes like steak frites, escargot, and seafood platters, all paired with a sense of timeless charm and warmth. These brasseries often become neighborhood fixtures, embodying the Parisian way of savoring life through good food, relaxed conversation, and a beautifully orchestrated dining experience.

In a city now known for its Michelin stars, and its appreciation for the finest dining experiences, Brasserie 19 stands out as an iconic landmark of French cuisine. Located in prestigious River Oaks, this chic brasserie has become a culinary haven for those seeking impeccable flavors, an elegant ambiance, and a dash of Parisian charm, at the best style of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

Upon stepping into Brasserie 19, diners are immediately transported to a world where classic French brasserie traditions blend seamlessly with modern design. The bright, airy space, adorned with striking chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a sleek marble bar, exudes an understated yet luxurious atmosphere, now additionally enhanced with its brand new and beautifully arranged patio.

Whether seated at one of the intimate tables or enjoying a drink at the bar, guests are surrounded by an ambiance that whispers refinement without pretension.

The menu at Brasserie 19 is a celebration of classic French cuisine, elevated by locally sourced ingredients and an innovative approach. Founded by Charles Clark, known for his culinary accolades and infectious charisma, he’s a force in the kitchen and a delight in the dining room. While he enjoys European travels and sipping Provençal rosé, it’s time with his two daughters that truly grounds him. His cooking reflects his vibrant personality, impressing guests with bold flavors and precise techniques. Staying true to himself, he avoids following fleeting trends—a lesson that has guided his success. A self-proclaimed wild child, Clark’s boundless enthusiasm fuels his remarkable work ethic, solidifying his place in Houston’s culinary scene for years to come.

Brasserie19’s Executive Chef Michael Hoffman has masterfully curated a menu that honors traditional French dishes while adding his own distinct touches. The result is a collection of flavors that feel both familiar and refreshing, as each bite reveals the restaurant’s commitment to excellence.

We indulged in some of Brasserie 19’s standout dishes, each a testament to classic French cuisine with a modern twist.

To start, the French Onion Soup is a brasserie staple done right. A comforting bowl of caramelized onions and rich beef consommé, crowned with a crusty baguette slice and gooey, melted Gruyère, unveils layers of deep, savory flavors in every spoonful.

For the mains, the Filet Frites is an undeniable classic—perfectly cooked, tender filet paired with golden, crispy

fries that highlight the restaurant’s commitment to the essentials. Meanwhile, the Grilled Ribeye, draped in a luscious black garlic sauce, accompanied by poblano creamed corn and crispy marble potatoes, is an indulgent dish that’s not to be missed.

A House Special worth mentioning is the Brasserie 19 Cheeseburger. Served on a buttery brioche bun with bibb lettuce, juicy tomato, house-made pickles, and pommes frites, this burger is a masterpiece of flavor—simple, yet extraordinary.

For something truly unique, the Marinated Baked Feta shines, featuring a blend of feta-spiced tomato sauce, hearty coco beans, chimichurri, and toasted sourdough for a dish that’s bursting with Mediterranean flair.

Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the Trout Almondine, a delicate filet topped with toasted almonds, capers, and brown butter, perfectly complemented by tender haricots verts. And the Salmon—paired with roasted carrots, beets, preserved lemons, dill-lime labneh, cucumber, and pistachio—delivers a fresh, vibrant, and light option that’s both satisfying and refreshing.

Perhaps the crown jewel of Brasserie 19 is its Raw Bar, which offers an impressive selection of fresh oysters sourced from both the Gulf and beyond. Paired with the restaurant’s extensive wine list—curated by a skilled sommelier and featuring over 250 labels from renowned vineyards—the oysters are the perfect prelude to an unforgettable meal. The wine selection is particularly noteworthy, with options spanning both Old and New Worlds, ensuring that every palate finds its match.

For those seeking a lighter option, the various salads offer a heartier alternative. And of course, there is no way you can close your visit without one of several amazing deserts, like the Lemon Almond Pound Cake, the Chamomile Panna Cotta, or the Chocolate Mousse Cake.

Each dish at Brasserie 19 is a celebration of classic flavors, elevated by thoughtful preparation and quality ingredients. A must-visit for anyone craving an authentic brasserie experience.

Brasserie 19 is also a popular destination for those looking to indulge in an afternoon escape in the new beautiful patio. The weekend brunch offers a delightful selection of pastries, omelets, and refreshing cocktails.

Yet, Brasserie 19 isn’t just about the food—it’s about the experience. The attentive yet unobtrusive service elevates the dining experience to one of true relaxation. The staff, knowledgeable and passionate, guide guests through the menu and wine list with grace, making expert recommendations while allowing diners the freedom to explore the offerings at their own pace.  At the heart of this experience is Charles, whose warm smile and courteous demeanor make each visit genuinely enjoyable. His presence elevates the atmosphere, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and valued.

In a city that loves to dine out, Brasserie 19 has carved out a niche as one of Houston’s premier destinations for those seeking a refined yet approachable dining experience. It’s a place where the charm of a Parisian brasserie meets the energy and innovation of Houston, resulting in a restaurant that feels both unique and fresh. Definitely a LUXCIOR 5-Star and a The Houston Luxury Network 3-Circle rating!
